Matt, is diYachting's Managing Director. Heâ€™ll be there from the start of your journey, guiding you along the way helping you get the most from your yacht. Matt is a qualified Captain with an RYA Commercial Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor ticket and has sailed over 200,000 nautical miles in over 30 years of sailing. He has skippered 12 ARC transatlantics, 5 Fastnet races and has won trophies at over 30 prestigious regattas over the years. Aside from being a professional sailor for 20 years Matt has a degree in Law and in a previous life has worked in Banking and Life Assurance.â€¨
Lizzie, is in charge the charter side of the business and is responsible for working with the owners and crews organising calendars and charters and also answering chartererâ€™s enquiries and putting together the perfect cruising holiday for you. Lizzie has sailed since a young age, having grown up by the sea in Southend in Essex, she has sailed over 150,000 nautical miles and has worked together with Matt for 18 years. Before joining Matt and a life at sea Lizzie studied Tourism & Business at Bournemouth University and worked for several years for Camp America in their London office.
Gordie joined us in September 2018. Reporting directly to Matt, Gordie is responsible for the management of our fleet of yachts. He overseas our growing team across our Accounts, Management and Parts departments. In addition a large part of the role is to develop the Yacht Management department as we grow and attract more yachts. Gordie has committed his professional life to the outdoor activity and marine industries at practitioner and management level for the last 10 years. He has a passion for sharing all things nautical! Before joining us, Gordie was employed as a RYA Instructor and skipper on the Thames.
David is responsible for providing technical support to our fleet of managed yachts, making regular onsite visits to undertake and oversee works and ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed to satisfy our high standards. An MCA Ocean Yachtmaster and Yacht & Small Craft Surveyor, David has over 15 years of practical marine experience, this along with a wealth of local knowledge and contacts helps to keep all jobs as cost-effective as possible. David has gained his sailing experience on vessels up to 24m in Europe, USA and the Caribbean having worked as a captain and project manager for both live aboard and absentee owners. A real foodie, David used to run a Gastro pub at Hythe Marina.
Carly joined us mid 2017 and quickly threw herself into our multi-currency business and clients accounts. Having started her accounts career in London she took time out to have a family and moved to Southend earlier this year.
Jamie joined us in December 2017 and is our parts and products Co-ordinator and is responsible for the parts department. Liaising with our Technical Services Team and Yachts to supply any parts or equipment they require. Jamie comes from a background in purchasing having spent the last few years in procurement for super yachts.
Freya joined the company in March 2018 and is responsible for the majority of the administration behind Yacht Management. Freya deals with yacht registration, crew administration, marinas and port bookings, liaising with owners and our accounts team. Freya keeps the office a well oiled machine. Freya was a P.A. for thirteen people before joining us, so is well-equipped to handle the variation in her tasks.
Georgie joined the team in September 2018 and is charge of the crew recruitment. Having grown up sailing, at the age of 18 she sailed across the Atlantic from the Caribbean with Matt & Lizzie on Disco 2 and went on to spend many years sailing around the world as crew on both racing and cruising yachts. Georgie has a great understanding of what it takes to be a great crew and is able to match the right crew with the right yacht and owner.
Marlee joined diYachting in November 2018, assisting Lizzie in running the Yacht Charter side of the business, marketing and social media. Marlee graduated from the University of Exeter in Anthropology in the summer. This is one step closer to the yachting industry than her previous job, which was working on the deck of a restaurant called The Boatyard!
Max entered the frame in September 2018 and supports Freya in ensuring all the office administration is complete, meaning owners and crew are constantly updated ensuring a quality service. Max recently graduated with a Politics and Philosophy degree from the University of Exeter.
Louise helps out when needed from flights and itineraries for the staff, to resizing yacht photos for the website and yacht listings . Louise was a sea cadet as a teen and studied at university in Southampton so has always been surrounded by the sea. Her career started in the property development industry, she took time out to have a family and we are slowly winning her round to returning to work on a more permanent basis.
Mimi is the one that keeps us smiling when the days are long, she welcomes all delivery drivers and kindly empties the waste paper bins on the floor!
