Matt is diYachting’s Managing Director. He’ll be there from the start of the journey, guiding you along the way helping you get the most from your yacht. Matt is a qualified captain with an RYA Commercial Yachtmaster Ocean Instructor certificate. He has sailed over 200,000 nautical miles in over 30 years of sailing. During this time Matt has skippered 12 ARC transatlantics, 5 Fastnet races and hasten trophies at over 30 prestigious regattas. Aside from being a professional sailor Matt also has a degree in Law and in a previous life worked in Banking and Life Assurance.
Director - Yacht Charter
Lizzie, is in charge the charter side of the business and is responsible for working with the owners and crews organising calendars and charters and also answering charter enquiries and putting together the perfect cruising holiday for you. Lizzie has sailed since a young age, having grown up by the sea in Southend in Essex, she has sailed over 150,000 nautical miles and has worked together with Matt for 18 years. Before joining Matt and a life at sea Lizzie studied Tourism & Business at Bournemouth University and worked for several years for Camp America in their London office.
Yacht Charter Assistant
Marlee joined diYachting in November 2018, assisting Lizzie in running the Yacht Charter side of the business, including marketing and social media. Marlee graduated from the University of Exeter in Anthropology in the summer. This is one step closer to the yachting industry than her previous job, which was working on the deck of a restaurant called the Boatyard!
Head of Yacht Management
Gordie joined us in September 2018. Gordie is responsible for the overall management of our fleet. He oversees our growing team across all departments, including accounts, management and products. A large part of Gordie’s role is to develop the Yacht Management department as a whole in it’s entirety as we attract more yachts and grow our business. Gordie has committed his professional life to the outdoor activity and marine industries at both practitioner and management level for the last 10 years. He has a passion for all things nautical! Before joining us, Gordie was employed as an RYA Instructor and skipper on the Thames.
Technical Services Manager
David is responsible for providing technical support to our fleet of managed yachts, making regular onsite visits to undertake and oversee works and ensure all maintenance and repair work is completed to satisfy our high standards. An MCA Ocean Yachtmaster and Yacht & Small Craft Surveyor, David has over 15 years of practical marine experience, this along with a wealth of local knowledge and contacts helps to keep all jobs as cost-effective as possible. David has gained his sailing experience on vessels up to 24m in Europe, USA and the Caribbean having worked as a captain and project manager for both live aboard and absentee owners. A real foodie, David used to run a Gastro pub at Hythe Marina.
P.A to Matt Abbiss
Gabi has worked on yachts for the last 12 years and her last position was Chief Stewardess on a 82m motor yacht. She is bringing her wealth of experience & knowledge of the Mega Yacht industry to diYachting and having recruited the crew onboard her previous yachts, she’s perfect to lead the way with our crew recruitment.
Parts & Products Co-Ordinator
Jamie became our parts and products co-ordinator in December 2017. This role involves supplying all of our yachts with any equipment they require. Liaising with suppliers, our technical services team and the captains aboard the yachts, Jamie helps keep our yachts as hi-tech and smooth running as possible. Jamie’s background is in purchasing having spent the past few years in procurement for super yachts, including a period of time working for Emirati Royalty!
Yacht Management Co-Ordinator
Freya joined the company in March 2018 and is responsible for the majority of the administration behind Yacht Management. Freya deals with yacht registration, crew administration, marinas and port bookings, liaising with owners and our accounts team. Freya keeps the office a well oiled machine. Freya was a P.A. for thirteen people before joining us, so is well-equipped to handle the variation in her tasks.
Louise helps out when needed from flights and itineraries for the staff, to resizing yacht photos for the website and yacht listings . Louise was a sea cadet as a teen and studied at university in Southampton so has always been surrounded by the sea. Her career started in the property development industry, she took time out to have a family and we are slowly winning her round to returning to work on a more permanent basis.
MiMi The Frenchie
Not just an office dog, Matt & Lizzie’s French Bulldog, Mimi is the one that keeps everyone smiling when the days are long. She welcomes all delivery drivers and barks at you when in the kitchen as that’s where her treats are kept!
Carly Quick Crockford
Carly joined us mid 2017 and quickly threw herself into our multi-currency business and clients accounts. Having started her accounts career in London she took time out to have a family and moved to Southend earlier this year.
