FAM trip on Christal Mio

June 13, 2026

Christal Mio is a new Fountaine Pajot 80 Power catamaran, she is configured with the galley up and 6 double guest cabins, 5 crew and based in Greece year round.

I was one of 11 lucky charter brokers invited to spend 3 nights onboard and travel from Poros back to Athens after the charter shows in May 2026.

I had been invited onboard for lunch during the show so I had already met the crew and Francesca the deckhand had been on Genny, Sunreef 80, on a previous fam trip in 2024.

Once we were onboard, the 11 ‘guests’ and 5 crew gathered in the vast cockpit area for the safety briefing. This is when you realise how big the cockpit area is, there were 16 of us and we were so spread out across the dining area and sofa areas.  Each of the crew introduced themselves and gave us some direction on their area and also asked if there was anything we wanted to know about.  Once done we were off!

We headed off to anchorage for lunch and then into Spetses for dinner.   We cruised at 18.6 knots to lunch! It was like to were barely moving! Life carried on as we were served drinks and a hummus board to keep us going till lunch! I tried a variety of sofa spots, I felt like cat as I lounged around wondering which one would be my favourite! And for those wondering, it was the ones after and positioned on the rear hulls, you get the best view of your onward journey.

We had a lovely light lunch, with meat, fish, salad and homemade bread rolls. Once we moored off the restaurant in Spetses, myself and another broker ventured ashore for a walk round into the town and then winding our way through the backstreets; shops and restaurants to get back to our flotilla.  We diner ashore on a jetty over the water.  It was pretty magical.  We came home to the smell of fresh baked granola! And we went to bed all thinking about breakfast!

In the morning, I woke up early and took my yoga mat to the fly bridge and enjoyed the sun rising. I then tried out some the forward sofa bed and did some emails before joining the group for breakfast. Once again movement underway was incredibly smooth as we made our way to the lunch anchorage.

Madga, our chef baked us a whole fish for lunch, it filleted and served at the table.

The group swam, paddle boarded, e-foiled and tried the seabobs before moving to a new anchorage for dinner, where I couldn’t resist but have a little nap on a sofa on the flybridge.  The days were flying past as one meal time merged into the next.

Another morning sunrise yoga on the flybridge, I had settled nicely into a routine and was amazed there were 16 of us on the boat yet I could still be on my own.  Final area to try out was the foredeck, a couple of the others had been in the jacuzzi one night but generally we hadn’t made the most of this area in the day so we all hung out on the sun beds and sofas as we went round to Nisos, an island with no human inhabitants just a bar on the beach and peacocks in the wild, a few day charter boats passing in and out but not so busy and was a pretty place to stretch our legs.  After another delicious lunch we started our final leg back to Athens.

Madga recreated her menu from the chef’s competition for our final meal and we dined on the flybridge which was nice and private as we were in the marina. We shared memories of the week, the shows and created new memories.

The crew were great, they all worked so hard, you rarely saw any of them standing still and you never really noticed them, they just appeared when needed.

The Fountaine Pajot 80 is an incredible yacht, there was so much space for all of us, the dining areas big enough for 12 and large tables so as not to be overcrowded. The speed and comfort was amazing, you could comfortably do so much in a week on a power cat and the fuel consumption is so much lower compared to a motor yacht.
