Dinner onboard Sameli, in Nafplion May 2026

Some evenings just come together perfectly—and this was one of them.

I stepped onboard Sameli, the Balance 73 catamaran, just as the sun was beginning to set. The timing couldn’t have been better. The light was soft, the sea calm, and the whole atmosphere instantly felt relaxed and inviting. Which having got up at 3am to get to Heathrow was just what I needed.

Dinner was one of those experiences where every course genuinely surprised me.

We started with a beetroot salad with goat’s cheese—seven different variations of texture of beetroot, each adding something completely different to the dish. Creative, colourful, and seriously good.

Next up was bonito carpaccio with citrus notes—fresh, light, and beautifully balanced.

The main course was a standout: sea bass fillet with burnt carrot purée, sautéed local greens, and a rich kakavia sauce. Simple on paper, but incredibly well executed.

Dessert brought everything together—a yoghurt Monte on a crisp base with bergamot. Light, fragrant, and exactly what you want at the end of a meal like this, normally I would have just had a taste to be polite but it was so good I ate it all.

What really made the evening was the feeling onboard. The crew are wonderfully attentive (and rightly so), the company was great, and the whole atmosphere just made me feel so at home.

It’s the kind of evening that reminds you why dinner on a yacht is so special.
