CAPTAIN & CHEF/STEW/DECK CREW COUPLE

Position: Captain/Engineer &/or accompanied by Chef/Stew/Deck or Stew/Deck Crew Couple 

Yacht: Jongert 2900 – 95ft – Private Use.

Captain Start date:  1st May 2026 – required to meet owner in Newport USA to be present while Final Sale Survey takes place and remain onboard.  

Location/Programme:  Meet the owner in Newport for the purchase of the Yacht and to conduct sea trials on the vessel.  Once the sale is completed, approx end of May, the owner will join the Captain and cruise for the next 2/3 weeks to check the workings of the vessel.  The Captain will assist in choosing some crew – 2/3 more crew members to sail the Yacht back to Europe, the owner and a couple of friends will also do the crossing, the yacht will sail to Malta.  Then a stew and chef if not on board already, will be required to join in July for the next couple of busy months with the owners living on board.  The Stew and Chef will finish the season in Oct/Nov and then have a few months off before they return the following season.  The Captain will oversee the Yacht in the Winter period in Athens, while an extensive refit happens.

Salary: Solo Captain €7/8,000 Euros per month -DOE. Combined Captain and Chef/Deck/Stew €10/11,000 Euros per month  – DOE

Captain: RYA Yachtmaster (Ocean), ENG1, STCW (or personal survival & first aid) or equivalent.  As well as a minimum of three years relevant experience, it will be most preferable to find someone with experience on a Jongert, as well as a strong sailing background and engineer.  To be organised in servicing and maintaining onboard systems including; engine, air conditioning, water maker, generator.  

The refit includes upgrades to the generators and electrical battery system.  Therefore, the Captain must have strong engineering knowledge to oversee this.  The Captain will also be in charge of budgeting and running the complete vessel for the owner. 

Chef/Deck/Stew: STCW, ENG1. Must be able to produce exciting cuisine.  Be comfortable managing interiors, provisioning, cleaning, catering and assisting on deck and be able to help out with watches, mooring, lines and fenders. 

Contract:  12 Month – SEA Contract employed by Guernsey Company.
